Nathan

Nathan is an innovative piano teacher and engaging music educator with over 10 years experience.

With his inspiring passion for music and detailed knowledge of piano practicing, Nathan supports his students as they pursue their rewarding musical goals, whatever they may be.

He loves to share and play music with others and creates an atmosphere where it is safe for both student and teacher to learn something new from each other.

His ever-evolving original teaching material takes the best of the traditional methods out there and distills it for ready use across a wide variety of styles – from classical to jazz, pop, soundtracks and beyond.

An alumni of the Royal and Conservatory of Music, and a double graduate of Queen’s University in both music (B.Mus.) and civil engineering (B.Sc.), Nathan continues to be an active performer and accompanist.

Nathan is an exceptional piano teacher. As an adult student I've taken music lessons from several excellent teachers over many years, but no one else has ever taught me to practice as effectively as Nathan has. A highly intelligent and reflective musician, he has a deep understanding of the learning process and is continually coming up with new ways to effectively help students understand difficult concepts.

When my 6-year-old son also started lessons, Nathan was very good at holding his interest and keeping lessons creative. I have the impression that Nathan really thinks about what will work best for each student and adjusts his approach accordingly. He does an impressive amount of preparatory work custom designing exercises for students at various levels. I highly recommend studying with him.

"Nathan is a very gifted teacher who has taught my 3 children. I am awed at how far they have come with their willingness to practice rhythm and the level of playing that they achieved. Nathan teaches them in a way that encourages and uplifts rather than discourages. I was so happy during the first lesson with Nathan when one of my daughters laughed rather than cried as had been our past experiences."

"I thank you so so very much in improving my skills and making me more mature and polite. Whenever I play piano I will always remember you and your kindness."
